Hine Taizan (1813-1869)
日根対山

Hine Taizan, born in Hine neara Osaka. He moved to Kyoto where he studied under Kukina Kaioku (1778-1863) and Okada Hanko (1782-1846). Under the patronage of Yamanouchi Yodo (1827-72) the Lord of Tosa province he became close to the poet Yanagawa Seigan (1789-1858). Taizan is remembered also as the teacher of the Meji period Western-style painter Nakamaru Seijuro (1841-1896) in Kyoto. - "Excellent landscape painter." (Roberts, p.168)
