Chikusai Yamashita (1885-1973)
竹斎山下

He was born in Kyoto in 1885 where he lived and worked. Chikusai is noted as being one of Yamamoto Shunkyou’s earliest and highest ranking disciples. Chikusai was regularly exhibiting at the Bunten and Teiten. He won numerous prizes and was eventually nominated for the boards of both organizations.
